BIRTHDAY PARTY DILEMMA

Soon it'll be my little one's 6th birthday...and up to the moment I am still undecided how to go about it. Not just for the budget concerns but also what she wants. She wants to have one in school since that is how her classmates celebrate theirs and one outside where they can play. She also likes to have it in Jollibee (the Philippine version of McDonalds Party Place) or in a certain area where we can follow what she dream of having, princess theme.

Then again, she can have them on her 7th birthday, right? It's just that everything seems to be happening all at once these days that top priorities have to be given them. She needed her ears checked again for the ringing she hears, she needs to go to a specialist for her frequent cold sores (singaw) which is a Pedia-Immunologist. And so many far more important things to prioritize over a party that will be over in a few hours.

MS. PHILIPPINES ~ WORTHY OF A TITLE

SHAMCEY SUPSUP is the Philippine pride that have placed Third runner-up in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant. She is not just all beauty but also of brains for being able to top the BS Architecture Licensure Board Examinations after her four year's in UP Diliman and able to answer the question and answer portion of the pageant without using an interpreter unlike her 4 other contenders. She did so with grace and confidence in addition to her frank revelation that she just answered from the heart.

She is indeed worthy of the title though if others were asked she deserved even more than the rank given her. The fans seem to think so as well for all the 1st or 2nd places she get each time there was a vote. But Shamcey have accepted everything humbly saying "One just cannot have everything..."

Crowned winner Miss Angola and the others deserved the blessings given them as well and we just have to accept the reality that everything happens for a reason. Maybe they are meant to be there just as Shamcey for being here.

BEST FRIEND IN SCHOOL

In my whole school days, from preschool up to college, I have always had a girl best friend. Well, yes, I have more than her because I usually belong to a group...but in a group there always is that someone closest to you. And mine had always been another girl.

And so I find it ultra cute to have learned that my little one's ever first best friend is not the common girl-to-girl best friend. She told me herself that her best friend is Noa. He had been a classmate in her summer introduction school. She skipped nursery and kinder and is now Prep...and she felt most at ease with one of her four her seat mates, Noa. He's a mild mannered kid, he is nice and most of all he have the same level of thinking with my Anya. She admitted that he is the one easiest to talk to. Since my daughter grew up with adults, and no kids around, she thinks and talks like adults. And whenever she is with other children she easily gets bored and is not as patient when they talk differently (which is actually normal kid talk at their age) or when they get so childish blabbering and laughing uncontrollably.

I am so happy for her that she found her best friend. And that best friend Noa is pleasing enough for me to be glad that he is indeed her best friend. I value friendship and I see how Anya and Noa values it too. They take care of each other. They play after school and they make each other smile when one is in tears. They look out for one another. And at that early age of 6, I fear for nothing beyond friendship. Wait until they reach teenage years...then I will have to be more on the look out for friends that may not be in their same gender. But hopefully, this friendship they have lasts a long, long time. For me it will be Noa and Anya, the best of friends.

Personal experience with my daughter makes me nod my head with the article of Dole Nutrition Institute regarding constipation. It truly is something you should prevent your kid from having. Though I have to admit that my little one had this problem when she was yet to start weaning. She was unfortunately lacto-intolerant then and so was advised by her pedia to be given Soya Milk. It is a really a trying time for us. But I had seen older kids battle with constipation simply because they were not fed enough veggies. Also, those who drank less than 24 ounces of liquids daily were eight times more likely to be constipated. Aside from making their bathroom visits less onerous, there are plenty of other benefits to feeding your kids more fruit and vegetables. These include fewer tummy aches, higher test scores, fewer respiratory problems, stronger bones, and more balanced blood pressure according to preliminary research. Additionally, more produce on the plate may help your kids avoid childhood obesity, and its many attendant ailments.

Bonus: Kiwis vs. constipation? One study found that adults who ate two kiwis a day for a month enjoyed more frequent bowel movements and less overall discomfort.

I believe that this concern for constipation do not just apply to kids but to adults too. Fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber and it truly aids in bowel movement. More importantly fiber helps avoids more serious health conditions such as colon cancer, diabetes, hypertension and other heart diseases.Love vegetables for the fiber, vitamins, minerals and taste that it gives. Let your children grow with it and they will have a healthier life onto adulthood. Nestle Celebrates With Us!

Nestle in its100th year...

...and still making us feel "we belong to the family"! We were born, raised and molded with Nestle and their wonderful products. Life can never be as it is without Bear Brand, Milo, Nescafe, Carnation, Cerelac, CoffeeMate, Kitkat, Foxes, Magic Sarap...and on and on it goes. Not one household have "no sign" of Nestle. Though rain is pouring down, bloggers and other supporters went to Nestle head office in Rockwell, Makati and was greeted with welcoming reception. DO YOU DRIVE?

Do you drive and not be as hot headed as some with all the road problems we encounter here and there?

I LOVE TO DRIVE. The freedom it gives me, the capability, the confidence...its an exhilarating feeling to know that you can and not everybody can. But there are trials along the way. Your car, the other drivers around you, the pedestrians and the road itself.

Maybe you also wonder as I do how come the construction seems to take so long? At times you even see pending jobs, leaving the people suffering from the traffic it causes and even the hazard it gives. The government were blamed when it also are highly likely that the contractors are at fault for using inappropriate materials or equipment, if not those they hire to provide them. Advanced technology is making everything easier and better. We just have to recognize it, and make use of it. Let go of the old, and use new and high innovations. There are asphalt equipment and every other road needs that can double or even triple up the time frame of finishing tasks. Time is gold. And the faster the work is done the more energy and costs are saved...

...as much as it saves people driving from raised blood pressures and stress!

...RAINY SEASON.
...AND for me, SCHOOL!

It is a wonder and a joy that my little one have nothing against going to school. She is excited. In fact she can't wait for it to start!!!

Years ago, I see children crying when their moms bring them to school. They have tantrums, they become difficult. And so it has been a concern for me when my Anya started growing up.

But I guess I prepared her well =) I gave her idea of what school is. We played pretend school, I thought her basic knowledge (and not so basic like reading hehe). I did not push her to go to school. I made an agreement with her when at 4 she still is hesitant to go but not as much as when she was adamant when she was 3...we agreed that when she's 5 she will go to school. And now she is 5. The fruit of my labor with the training worked. She's very willing to start now. I made her try summer program and she's a genius! She's active and she's confident.

This June it will be her first time to go to school, but she skipped two years. She perfected her entrance exams for Prep!

And so JUNE WILL ALWAYS BE...SCHOOL for me and for my schooler ;)

A PUPPY OR A KITTEN?

If you are to choose between a puppy and a kitten, which would you choose?

It is believed that these two cute little creatures are the most common companions people adopt to take care of, either to be the family's pet or their personal companion. Both are cuddly and soft. Both needing care and attention. Both giving love and bringing out love.

But they have similarities and differences that makes us want one over the other.

Dog lovers wonder what some sees in cats to want them. Likewise, cat owners have some to say of dog owners too. You hear endless different questions. Why would you want to take care of cats who sleep all day? Why would you want to have with you dogs that barks that pierces your eardrums each time the doorbell rings? How come you want to have cats that easily overpopulates your house? How come you want dogs that digs holes in your backyard?

Endless questions...but at times throws seemingly meaningless ones but makes us think nonetheless. One would be Why do cats purr? Or why do dogs love to chase their tail?

One thing is for sure, they make us feel happy. We simply differ in many different ways. We each have different views and preferences. So let us just be happy for the happiness the other have with either their puppy or kitten...their dog or their cat.

At the very high temperature of 33 degrees centigrade, I can't help but allow my little one to play outside as long as she wants...dipped in water! And now she do so everyday.

Children naturally have higher body temperature than us adults, and if I am feeling mighty hot, I know that they are feeling even hotter. The 64% humidity is almost unbearable too. But instead of being cooped inside using air conditioning 24/7 with a very high electricity bill and a bored kid, I let her have fun in the water.

I have seen kids as young as 3 years old starting school. I thought it's too early. For me, they may not be ready yet...and that its preferable that they truly want to go and start already. After all, once they start schooling, it will be after college before it finally ends.

There are some parents who make them go even though they seem hesitant yet. That's why there are many who are stressed with it. The children cry and the parents at wits end. On both sides, it is stressful.

WHY IS HE "TORPE"?

"Torpe" as per defined by the Wiktionary is "The quality of being too shy to pursue amorous desires". This actually is a Filipino word that points to men who don't have the nerve to voice out or show his feelings to the woman he like.

It has been a question at the back of my mind for years now, why they are "torpe". It can't mean that they are insecure as a person because they are not wen it comes to other people. They just become such a nitwit when they come face to face with the very person he likes. We gets tongue-tied, he get cold sweat, increase heartbeat, blushing, cannot look straight..and so many other different things that happen to them that simply looks ridiculous.

Why would he be when he just should be showing off? How can he impress if he just looks at his shoe? And the fact that she is just another normal individual...as human as he is. And what if you don't click, and so you don't! You just tried anyway.

There should be nothing to be Torpe about if you one put in his (or her) head that you are just hoping and tying; if you be confident and tell yourself that there are a lot more to choose from if it doesn't work; and in all honesty...girls are just as scared. There are times that we are overly protective of our kids that we worry overly much. We tend to get a little carried away with all the tragic events we see in the evening news and it caused us to have "too creative imaginations" that we fear letting them out of our site. But it calms us down when we know where they will be going and if it is safe for them to go there.

School year starts and for our first time schoolers, we wanted to be ultimately sure that the school we chose for them values safety precautions. You visit the premises and notice barricades that will not let them be near the busy street, therefor protects them from vehicular accidents that happen everyday. It is also important for you that they have crowd control especially for outsiders and visitors and the velvet ropes you have seen from the entrance going to the visitors area assures you that trespassers will not have easy access to the children inside, thus your kid is safe.

"Get it away from me!!!" You screamed this upon seeing that tiny mouse that have somewhat made it inside your house...and your little one wide eyed and more scared with your screaming and reaction started to feel that she should also be afraid of it. On another side of the town is another commotion when a mother steps up atop a table as she begs her husband to throw away the trash that had been infected with maggots while she unknowingly passes down to her daughter her fear for worms.

DO YOU AGREE WITH ME THAT THE FEAR CAN BE PASSED DOWN?

Notice that in a household, if one parent is scared of a house lizard, more often than not, her children will be too. Or in any rodent actually; a spider, mouse, cockroach, worms. Psychological effect is to blame for this, because as children, they look up to their elders (their parents most especially). What is wrong for their parents they believe to be wrong. What is scary is indeed scary. And this usually is carried along even through the years as they grow old.

I should know, because we have one definite kind of thing with a rodent. My mom not liking it, passed along to me and all of my siblings, and now to my daughter. I honestly tried not to show her my fear just so she won't acquire it but its not easy...so there's only me to blame why she now doesn't like "that" rodent.

I always loved super shiny floor. I remember in the old times in our grandmothers old house, we used to shine the wood parquet with floor wax and slid and slide in our behinds. Funny to remember that, but I am awfully glad now that it doesn't have to be brown to be that shiny for I prefer modern living. I want my home to be looking clean and bright.

Just in time, my plan to have our flooring changed rooted early this morning. Renovation has been on my mind for quite some time now. Thank God there's an option to change from hard wood to Tile flooring.

I have heard of benefits of tiles and is ultra pleased with it. Imagine only needing to wash and wipe and its all clean and shiny, durable to the extreme and is very modern that matches my kitchen. I can't wait for the weekend, as it is the time for me to finalize everything and start!

Probably my portions of the house will have such colors, but the bedrooms would be different. My little ones bedroom/playroom would be bright and colorful. Its like being transported to another dimension but knows it would still would be nice. The porch would be green and brown probably, i love nature as well.

1. What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
- I don't wear any continuously. Though you can see me wear earrings of different kinds each time I leave the house. I am fond of doing beads thus you can mostly see beads on me and silver/white golds.
2. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
-cut! i try twirling each time, but in the end always goes back to cutting because whenever I twirl I get way too much and its choking me hahaha!
3. How many siblings do you have?
-there's 3 of us. A big brother, myself and a little sister that is actually bigger than me!
4. Were you named after anyone?
- yep. After a song My Jennifer in the 70's. Since my folks cannot think of the best name for me, the radio did it for them. Just so timely that they were in the hopital thinking when it was played and they loved it. and guess what? Jennifer means white skin and well, I am.
5. Coke or Pepsi?
- it's always been Coke. Lately though I am having attacks of acidity whenever I consume more than a glass. I can still taste it even the next morning. So I guess it will be a no-no for me anymore.

It is not surprising that we are more and more acquiring other culture's ways and means of living. After all we were given the freedom of choice. Own free will. We have learned and is learning the do's and dont's in the society. In the end it boils down to: RESPONSIBILITY.

And at this day and age, unmarried man and woman chooses to prove themselves and others that they are responsible. That they can live on their own, take care of themselves and be the sole responsible to whatever they do and the consequences of doing that.

Freedom!

It is an achievement to be able to earn a living and live on that. You rent a place, design it as you want it, and stay in it when you want to. You make it who you are. Only your preferences count.

Have you noticed looking in the mirror more lately? Do you stop and think if you are still who you once were? Or maybe stops to think ifthere is something you can do to accentuate your charms? Why so? For who?

Women basically are more vain than men when it comes to their looks. They can be found more often doing things that can help manage their skin, buying things appropriate in protecting or treating their hair or doing this and that just so they would look better. When they look better, they feel better.

And they definitely feel better knowing they look beautiful in their better halves eyes. After 20 anniversaries or a few times giving birth, women feel less than the woman she was before. Insecurities starts to bud, self satisfaction have the tendency to plummet down to the ground and the confidence that he only had eyes for her is in question a lot of times.

They need words, they need action. Forget that you are both aging, love is endless. Disregard any thought of embarrassment, you've known each other for years. Do not let the fire die down, keep it burning. Make her feel beautiful, make her feel loved and life will continue as if it were just your first years.

PROVING THAT YOU ARE THE BEST MOM?

We have to admit that it is not always easy to be a mom. Above all the chores you have to do around the house, the bringing and taking of your children to and from the school, the full time work you do if you are also working, and the demands of your better half...is the burden you carry within yourself if you are being a great mom. If you are being the responsible mom rearing them and guiding them which is your ultimate reason for existing now as a mother. If you are "the best mom" for your family.

Its like providing them food. You are feeding them but are you providing them the right food? Are you meeting their nutritional needs? Daily requirement for the vitamin and mineral need of each family member have to be met through the food served every meal, or if not possible, through supplements. And who better to know but the mom.

Molding and training the children also is another responsibility parents carry. Cleanliness and orderliness have to be instilled to them so they will carry it through as they become their own person. Provision of interesting and visually nice items gives further encouragement. You can demand for their rooms to be neat but give them assistance as to how to do it and to give them ways in managing them. Their used clothes need to have a place to go, give them nice looking laundry bag. Appropriate things to appropriate places. Jewelries in jewelry boxes, shoes in shoe racks/boxes, stephen joseph bags or whatever bags in drawers or cases meant for them. Start the training as early as possible. Mold when they are still MOLD-able, and not when they are already stiff and grown using force.

REMEMBER also that children live by example. They will imitate us. Their eyes are focused on us. And they love us too much to want to become just like us.

The home should always be where they want to go back to. They have to feel the love within. There has to be a welcoming atmosphere...not only emotionally but physically too. They have to feel at ease in there and not be questioned and reprimanded in every move they make. And will not be when they have been trained early on. They have to feel the coziness of the place and not see clutters. It will be an added benefit to have wonderfully built place like that of those with the magnificent work done by Dallas landscaping.

Life at home should be comfortable, filled with warmth and love. And a deserving "You're the best, Mom" would make you sigh in relief knowing that you did made it right. And you are indeed the best!

Are you the sentimental pack-rat people call?

Can't blame you, I myself have a bit of that characteristic of having difficulty parting with things that have sentimental value. But there are people that sort of breaks if and when they have no choice but to give away or sell some of those things close to their heart. They do not want to BUT they have no space left to keep more of what they used when they were still kids, or those letters they have been keeping since elementary days, or that cute little things their kids wore 25 years ago, or her wedding dress and ornaments she plan to pass to the next generation. If only there are more space left in the attic and in the basement. If only there is a Storage that can accommodate those things that will make them truly happy before they finally leave the world.

Our parents and greatgrandparents will probably jump with joy once they learn that nowadays you don't have to stock them all in your house. You can have them placed in storage made available for big or small stuff. May it be personal belongings or business/office stuffs, there is a place made specially for this purpose so you ca count on it to be safe and properly maintained. You need not have a viable excuse to do so. You may be relocating, redecorating, freeing space for the holiday event or you simply want to store them someplace else other than where your excessive-compulsive housemate can see and continuously bug you to throw away. YOU NEED SPACE TO STORE, STORAGE IS MADE AVAILABLE FOR YOU.

NOBODY IS MOBILE-LESS

Once I was waiting for my friends at a coffee house...and it just suddenly interest me to look at everyone passing by. I noticed that almost everyone have their own mobile phone. And not just one all the time, sometimes its even two in their hands.

At my left I saw an elderly peeking at his reading glasses trying so much to see what he is typing, probably texting, and at a bundle of paper spread on his table. At my right is a mother talking through the wire obviously opted to go wireless as she cut her pre-school's doughnuts into bite size, and beside her sat a boy of about 7 years old texting on his own phone. Imagine! People of all ages have their own mobile phones. This is definitely the "computer age" those decade ago movies are talking about.

Its not anymore for fame or fashion. Not even just for vanity. It is a necessity. Leaving your home without it feels like leaving without your underwears. And the Philippines being the texting capital of the world makes mobile phone more popular, to the oldies or to the young. Even my 5 year old is now texting her granny for something to bring her home. Haha!

And we have to admit...life is so much simpler with it.

PLAYING GUITAR IS HOT!

Not everybody can play musical instrument, and being able to is something of an edge over others. In the same manner it gives you better confidence in mingling with people. And confidence boosts sex appeal. You get to be yourself, you get to be popular without trying to be.

For most, playing the guitar is the most to get attention over other instruments. A man playing it looks mighty sexy and hot, and a woman playing it looks easy to be with for the other sex (and that's commonly what they hope for...comfortable to be with). Therefore on both ends, "an interesting person."

It is easy to learn. There are online guitar lessons now to guide you through if you need one. I have learned before though magazines with guides, but its not as easy. Lucky you that the internet now can give you almost anything you need. And having a guitar is so easy. Especially here in the Philippines where you buy them at affordable prices. YOUR CHILD OR YOUR NEIGHBORS CHILD?

Seeing children playing around gives this undefined warmth to people. If you happen to be passing out time at the mall...it takes longer for you to get bored if you watch them goofing around with each other, playing alone with something so simple but they find truly interesting, or even just to see two tiny people conversing in their own way, in their own world. They look so innocent, so vulnerable that we somehow have this feeling of wanting to protect them...and in the same manner we have this tiny longing to be in their world where the greatest worry alone is how to make that set of blocks stand firm and not fall.

So little, so fragile. All we want to do is to please them and see those wonderful smile or hear the contagious giggling. BUT its not always sunshine...there also is a gloomy day after all. If they have their up's they also have their down's. And if you are a parent this is when you can most identify the "parent in the child". If it is your kid, this is when you see yourself in your kid. At this time you can see how they react to things. This is when you get to analyze if you were good enough in raising and training them or if you are failing and needs to reassess your methods.

Remember always that you are their mentor, you are their inspiration. Therefore who you are and what you are reflects on them. If you are always stressed and difficult, they will be stressed and difficult as well. If its always anger and punishment given them, they will also be angry all the time and be defensive for your treatment of them. But if you are calm, if you are more of a teacher than a "punisher", if you would talk to them, if you would behave as you want them to behave...you will witness learning. You will see the appropriate feedback, you will recognize proper upbringing.

They will be the image of what you are.

It is not the child to be blamed for how they turn out to be but those who raised and guided them. There may be factors like your neighbors, their classmates, their friends...but then again, you should know better. They will exist and you have to make your child learn how to live with them but not necessarily be like them. And it will all depend on the foundation...and that will be DEPENDENT ON YOU. He is your child and not your neighbors child. You molded him to who he became to be. You deserve all the pat on the back (or all the blame).

BEING SPORTY FOR HIM

I never believed in "opposites attract". For me there should be similarities to your likes and dislikes for the relationship to last. Its not mere love. There has to be interest, there has to be communication...there has to be common grounds. Or else, in a matter of months boredom will settle in between, and that will in the end be the very reason for separation. Because love will not stay.

And so, notice how the women try to involve themselves in what their better halves love doing. More often than not it is SPORTS. They go out of their way to learn what that sport is all about, play the very game themselves if not master it altogether, or even to the point of learning (not actually necessarily joining) the famous bet on sports done between men just for the fun of it. During the game, they stay beside their man, cheering and shouting as if it is their own personal choice. Sacrifice and commitment, that's what it is. That at times they even convinced themselves that they truly are enjoying, but the truth is they are enjoying his time with her and his notice given her. May it be the season for the NFL, NBA, or whatever game he go crazy of...she is with him ALL THE WAY. Trying to be as sporty as him just so they will have more time together, something to talk about, something to be happy about.

Well...it works! If you truly love him, you'll try it!

It is part of growing up that children learn to detach themselves from you. It should not always be them grabbing your skirt, or them holding your hand every step, or them sleeping beside you. It is in fact not a common practice in other countries for their kids to sleep in the same room as their parents, much more do they sleep in the very same bed.

It is a start then that you at least train them to sleep next to your bed. Buy them their own bed to sleep on. My Anya is used to sleeping in her own toddler bed. Prior to that she has her own crib when she was an infant then converted to baby bed when she got a little older and moves a lot. It is a matter of training and them getting used to it. Make them love having their own space. Make them respect yours. This will somehow make them stand on their own and start the early independence. Just make sure that they will be safe in that bed. Then get something that will interest them. It could be anything. From log beds to toy shaped beds...you can make it interesting for them. For initial surprise you need to put covers and stuffs for kids to make them love it and sleep there. In time, it can be bare and still they will sleep there because it is theirs!

If before I joined the Call Center craze and tried to be one of those that goes to the beautiful offices of BPO's, receives one call after another helping out clients and answering their querries and earn greater than most employees in normal offices...my little one did so too. At home. She pretends to be one as she doodles with the computer. She earn with play money and talks with pretend customers. Advantage? She learned navigation of computer, practiced on her english communication skill, and had fun time with mom. Just make sure your kid do not stay too long in front of your PC though and make her wear your UV protect PC eyeglasses to make sure she is not harming her eyes.

It actually is not proven right all the time...but I hear of it a lot of times. I have no reason to take sides since I am not married yet. I have no in-laws to love or to hate. But I have seen a lot of in-law to in-laws relationship and good new is, I have heard POSITIVE comments more that negative.

It is a tradition in this country for children to get married and still stay with their families, either with the wife's or the husband's. It is normal to see such arrangement for different reasons. It can be that they had an early marriage and that they are incapable of living on their own yet (it being a 3rd world country, it is not surprising!), or that the couple are both working and they need the trusted guidance of their parents for their kids they will leave behind with a carer, or the warm compassionate love and tendering Filipino's have for the elders that we cannot just leave them in the care of others ( institutions). This arrangement then became the reason for two families to stay in one place, more often, the in-laws staying with the newly wed...thus became your new family.

New family...extended family to be specific, are a lot harder than raising your very own in the sense that you are all adults reared by different people with different attitudes, different views of things, different everything that suddenly have to live together and adjust to everything. It is only natural that not everything you want will be the same as their wants. The key then so as not to have the same thought as mark twain is to have GIVE AND TAKE between your in-law and you. It actually is not a written rule but the appropriate rule that both ends should do likewise for a successful and contented life together.

PERMANENT TOOTH REPLACEMENT

It is not accepted nowadays to have missing tooth or teeth. There is always an option to have a nice smile...to have complete set of teeth. Either you do it in a little old fashion way of having removable dentures or the new trend of having next to normal permanent teeth with dental implants.

If I were to make a choice, it will be having it implanted where it is not at all noticeable even to myself that I already lost the original tooth. It will be a a little costly we must admit, but truly worth it. Procedure is longer since you need to undergo x-ray, then the surgery to put the screw into the bone where the crown will be attached. It will take about two months wait for the bone to heal (or probably adjust to the screw...grow may be the term) before going back for the final crowning.

Glad to say though that I have no need for such yet as my teeth are perfectly all okay. Nothing beats the orginal, healthy teeth nature have given us. Therefore, be extra mindful of oral care and hygiene.

CAN' T RESIST TOUCHING HER HAIR

Potato Sack Workout Program

As I was working to find a good exercise plan this year to improve my physical fitness, I came across this exercise to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems so easy that I decided to share it with others.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks, then 50-lb. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks; but be careful, you don't want to hurt yourself!

It is your haven, it is where you can be you. And therefore you do everything and anything that pleases you with it.

If you were me, you would want it cozy yet beautiful. You would want it elegant though gives complete comfort. You would want it clean and safe at all times not just for you but for your kids. I imagine my own house to be modern. More white but with colors on rooms. There will be adjustable lighting's for mood setting. There will be appropriate furniture, with no little things that usually serve as clutter. Have to have the sound of water cascading, could be a falls or fish tank. This simply makes it feel relaxing, just as the wind chimes does on windy days.

It never gets off my mind to make it bump free for my little one. First comes the Carpet installation to make it slip free on areas needing it, then those side protects on tables that could hurt them if they fell on them, and even electrical covers for safety.

Again, your home is your haven. It still is your own choice to make for how you want everthing to be. Do we somehow have the same idea?

This Lullaby has been heard of for centuries. Wikipedia defines lullaby as a soothing song, usually sung to young children before they go to sleep, with the intention of speeding that process.

But what is the new age lullaby? Is it still the Rock-A-Bye-Baby that has been one of the traditionally heard of lullaby's? As per notice, different songs are used to rock our babies to sleep already. More often than not, those songs sung were based on the parents preference or whoever is putting the baby to sleep. My little one had been put to sleep by her grandparents and was sung their personal favorites, a composition for papa and an old song for mama. The yaya sung her Filipino rhymes and native songs like "Ako ay may lobo", "Bahay Kubo", "Tatlong Bibe" and the likes. Her dad sang her "Buttercup" in low tone and slower version that goes with his steps and bounce. She loved my own composition of hums and some jazz music. BUT in general, she loved all of them since she calms down and feels right into deep sleep after being cuddled and swayed or rocked in those tunes. I believe those other kids have their own favorites as well. Even rock music for some had been effective...as long as they get used to it and acquires it from their love ones.

Latest activity I did with Anya that truly made her happy is to watch her most awaited Disney movie, Tangled. And she especially loved it because we did it with her dad. At one time or another, we have seen ourselves in the medical team. Even during childhood when people asked us what we want to be when we grow up, some said "I want to be a doctor" or "A nurse like my mother". MY FLOWER GIRL

My little one was asked the honor of being a flower girl next year. Luckily she was asked to choose the style of her gown to her choosing. Motif will be black and white...but I am sure she will be as pretty as any color it will be.

After much browsing, I was able to come up with pretty designs, that will somehow much my own, being the Maid of Honor, and asked her to choose from them. She won't have anything that is not strapless or at least spaghetti straps, and I am glad for what she decided on. She also will not settle for just any bouquet, she prefers a wand-like kind...which I myself would love for her to carry. I'm sure you agree with me. I just hope the bride-to-be agrees with us too (wink!)

We see more and more single parents nowadays, more so, single moms. No matter the reason for it, it always is the kid that is greatly affected. In their innocent minds during the first few years they get used to the fact that they live with their moms, either they see their dad's once in a while or not at all. But comes the knowledge that other kids have mommy's and daddy's together...then they start asking. They start wondering...where is my dad? Or why is he not staying whenever he comes home? Why is he just visiting?

And as they continue to have awareness of love between parents or between a man and a woman, they then crave to see love between their parents. In your case, you may not be feeling anything anymore for your kids dad...no more love perhaps...but don't ever let your kid see or feel that you feel something negative. In fact, they are hoping, though a mere pre-school, that you love each other.

I should know...that's what my daughter asked me a couple of times already. And she loves seeing us kiss. Hahaha!

The woman of the house usually are the ones more inclined to decorate their homes. They were the ones to interest the man to have the surroundings landscaped, and more often than not gives superb ideas to put this and that here and there.

I, for one, have so many ideas to a garden. Having one is a dream I will not let go of though condominiums and buildings are the trend these days. Nothing can surpass the fresh air one can get among the greens, nor the bird chirping around in the morning enjoying the sunlight as you do. And a great landscape that matches the very house always is a prerequisite to a magnificent garden.

A Greek Garden, Egyptian Garden or Roman Garden often comes to mind. Imagine putting Sundials to complete the picture. One like this beautiful Brass Butterfly Sundial that may have made you the envy of your visitors. It may be the oldest known device for the measurement of time and the most ancient of scientific instruments...but it will be the talk of town that you have one in your garden!!!
