Not everybody can play musical instrument, and being able to is something of an edge over others. In the same manner it gives you better confidence in mingling with people. And confidence boosts sex appeal. You get to be yourself, you get to be popular without trying to be.
For most, playing the guitar is the most to get attention over other instruments. A man playing it looks mighty sexy and hot, and a woman playing it looks easy to be with for the other sex (and that's commonly what they hope for...comfortable to be with). Therefore on both ends, "an interesting person."

Yeah, Playing guitar is hot especially when you are a girl. That is an asset for guys out there. :)
For me, playing my guitar is an a delight and somehow escape from the world for a while.
