Kids of certain age group have similar likes and dislikes when it comes to food preferences. Generally, they love fried chicken, spaghetti, chocolates and sweets. But there also is the term individuality that makes each child unique.

And there are times that unexpected reasons were behind unusual indifference to certain food. I actually have just thought of this when this afternoon my daughter who loves peanut butter sandwiches suddenly had an aversion for it:

I heard this usual request of wanting a peanut butter sandwich spread “evenly” in a slice of bread without one tiny white portion uncovered by it; and that the bread be left laying open and not folded as I do mine. After handing it over to her, she ate with her usual gusto as I continued with my pocketbook reading. A few minutes after, I saw her literally drop it onto her plate and faced me with quivering lips and croaking voice saying that it is very painful when she bit the bread AND HER MIDDLE FINGER!!!

I almost wanted to laugh out loud with that silly remark, but hid the smile even in my voice and kissed the red tip of her tiny finger. Soothing her with the mothers warm hug and cuddling, she calmed down only to sob once again when I teased her how delicious her finger is (can’t resist it, okay?!)…said she doesn’t want to finish the bread, but hopefully it won’t be a reason for her to have a grudge with the peanut butter sandwich she so loved! Pretty traumatic for her no doubt….

And so, circumstances like such may be the same reason your kid may be have odd repugnance to delightful chows =)
