BYE BYE CONSTIPATION

Personal experience with my daughter makes me nod my head with the article of Dole Nutrition Institute regarding constipation. It truly is something you should prevent your kid from having. Though I have to admit that my little one had this problem when she was yet to start weaning. She was unfortunately lacto-intolerant then and so was advised by her pedia to be given Soya Milk. It is a really a trying time for us. But I had seen older kids battle with constipation simply because they were not fed enough veggies. Dole Nutrition Institute Jennifer Grossman aids the company with its goal of reaching out to others on incorporation of fruits and vegetables into the diet for its many health benefits.

And as the Dole DNI article says, one of its benefits is regarding constipation:

Constipation 13x Higher Among Kids Who Don't Like Fruit, Vegetables
April 29, 2011

Sometimes, getting children to eat fruit and vegetables can be no fun. Less fun for kids is constipation. Statistics suggest constipation is on the rise among school-age children, but new research demonstrates that increased produce intake could help prevent discomfort and support normal bowel health.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing compared the dietary habits of Hong Kong school children (ages 8 to 10) with prevalence of constipation. Of the 383 children surveyed, 7% were considered constipated (defined as having three or fewer bowel movements/week). Results showed that children indicating a dislike of fruit and vegetables were 13 times more likely to suffer constipation. Also, those who drank less than 24 ounces of liquids daily were eight times more likely to be constipated. Another, larger study of 2,375 children found that those with a lower intake of fruit and vegetables were 21% and 33%, respectively, more likely to suffer constipation.

Aside from making their bathroom visits less onerous, there are plenty of other benefits to feeding your kids more fruit and vegetables. These include fewer tummy aches, higher test scores, fewer respiratory problems, stronger bones, and more balanced blood pressure according to preliminary research. Additionally, more produce on the plate may help your kids avoid childhood obesity, and its many attendant ailments.

Bonus: Kiwis vs. constipation? One study found that adults who ate two kiwis a day for a month enjoyed more frequent bowel movements and less overall discomfort.

I believe that this concern for constipation do not just apply to kids but to adults too. Fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber and it truly aids in bowel movement. More importantly fiber helps avoids more serious health conditions such as colon cancer, diabetes, hypertension and other heart diseases.Love vegetables for the fiber, vitamins, minerals and taste that it gives. Let your children grow with it and they will have a healthier life onto adulthood. Salute to Jennifer Grossman Dole Nutrition Institute for sharing in her own way the importance of fruits and vegetables. Jennifer Grossman Dole is known to be a television commentator and has published thousands of publications in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times. Known or not, the passion Jennifer Grossman have to share this to others is something we should have as well. Start with your friends and love ones, start with your kids.

IS IT THE TIME TO GET MARRIED?

More and more you see bachelors and spinsters these days. Gone were the days when it is normal to see teenagers get married and have kids. Now it's more of the mid to late 20's and even more common are the 30's and above allowing themselves to be shackled.

MAJOR REASON is how people know that it is not easy to live by anymore. Its getting harder and harder to find jobs and be stable enough to care for oneself, what more of another and a whole family? Likewise, man are getting more wicked that it is not easy finding someone with true motives. Selfishness is reigning. Or that almost everybody have no trust on who to give his or her heart to anymore.

Singles tend to make the most of their "singlehood" first...almost not wanting to let go. The freedom, the independence, the life that they meant to enjoy and make last as long as can be.

When is the time to get married then?

  • when you are ready to take responsibility.
  • when you are matured enough.
  • when you have experienced and enjoy what you hope to experience and enjoy as an individual.
  • when you finally believe that living alone is not for you anymore.
  • when your biological clock is running out and you want the natural way of conceiving.
  • when you found that someone and there's nothing more you can ask for.
  • and when you are done pleasing yourself and is committed to please another and a whole family of it.

TRAIN THEM TO BE INDEPENDENT

It is part of growing up that children learn to detach themselves from you. It should not always be them grabbing your skirt, or them holding your hand every step, or them sleeping beside you. It is in fact not a common practice in other countries for their kids to sleep in the same room as their parents, much more do they sleep in the very same bed.

It is a start then that you at least train them to sleep next to your bed. Buy them their own bed to sleep on. My Anya is used to sleeping in her own toddler bed. Prior to that she has her own crib when she was an infant then converted to baby bed when she got a little older and moves a lot. It is a matter of training and them getting used to it. Make them love having their own space. Make them respect yours. This will somehow make them stand on their own and start the early independence. Just make sure that they will be safe in that bed. Then get something that will interest them. It could be anything. From log beds to toy shaped beds...you can make it interesting for them. For initial surprise you need to put covers and stuffs for kids to make them love it and sleep there. In time, it can be bare and still they will sleep there because it is theirs!

YOUR KID NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION

It's not always you guiding them, reprimanding them, teaching them, or caring for them. They also need you to simply PLAY WITH THEM.

The time you give them making them enjoy you is as vital as those other times you are with them. They feel loved and cherished when you do things they love doing. And there's no greater love for them than playing. A few minutes each day is good enough bonding time, what more of an hour or two...or even a day. After all, they are the most important blessing given you!!!

FUN DAY AT FUN HOUSE

A few hours at the Fun House garners me an “I love you, mom!” from my charming li’l one. I bought her 5 tokens only at a cost of P25.00 (just so we can go right away) but then she won more and more with the matching game, and lots of tickets form other games available she exchanged for small items she again thanked me for with “Ang bait mo talaga, mom” (“You’re really so kind, mom”)

Nothing can surpass the love and happiness I feel when I see that twinkle in her eyes and the kisses and embraces I get with just a few quality hours with her.

They grow so fast…let not a single day pass you by!

THROWING TANTRUMS

I believe that such attitude can be brought about either because the child was borne "hereditarily" hard-headed or the parents are good at spoiling them.

Whichever way, seeing a child throw tantrums brings about negative reactions form observers. It is irritating to hear them wail loudly with pretentious tears (or sometimes none showing even), or see them sulk kicking or throwing away everything they see, or even lay on the ground screaming and thrashing. Most of the time the people disapprove of the childs behavior and condemn them for it, but on my end, I pity them because they are not being guided accordingly, nor are they being trained as should be thus will be the one suffering or will suffer when they grow older. Because with such molding they will surely be formed imperfectly and be the one to be hated or avoided. Furthermore, I put the blame not on the kids, but to the parents who seem to lack proper education themselves or enough knowledge to foresee the after effect of this in the childs latter years....or possibly loves their children less for not caring enough to put them to right. IT IS THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO GUIDE THEIR CHILDREN.

Unfortunate to see that when the kid has already built his foundation, used to such way of behaving (of having his way all the time), then and only then will the parent try to straighten them out with punishments. Is that fair? And so, shape them while they are still moldable and not when they are already stuck to that shape.

People differs...and so parents differ as well. Being one now myself, I then can look back and thank my parents for loving me enough to have this knowledge that I can now passed on to my daughter, their grandchild.
