WEIGHT LOSS STRUGGLE

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of wellnessdaily.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is common enough to hear this popular topic nowadays, may you be in your office, at school, at the gym, in the mall or even just at home...conversations and advertisements of ”possible ways to lose weight or to stay fit”. Centuries ago, not many people are aware of the significance of diet and exercise to good health, or maybe it is not given much thought. Lucky me to be in this age where you see health buffs and health freaks almost everywhere, thus serving as icons to remind, motivate and to personally crave to achieve desirable body weight.

Fortunate for me to be knowledgeable about facts on nutrition, but what of those who are not? In the news I hear of some victims of false beliefs leading to illness or even death, like partaking of drugs and wrong medications. In public restrooms I overhear discussions of wrong, old-fashioned ways of weight reduction like starvation; some probably unaware that they already have eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia. These are obviously a result of lack of information. Glad to know though that it is mighty convenient for people now to have them online. BEWARE though of where you get the RIGHT INFORMATION. At www.wellnessdaily.com you can find accurate advices, fitting sample recipes, and appropriate orientations that can help you reach your goal.

I remember years ago while I was still a freshman in college, I was almost convinced to try the method a friend have used to shed 20 pounds. Fortunately it took me long enough to start with it for me to have witnessed that same friend get hospitalized due to that method. Yes she lost the extra weight faster than other ways but at the expense of her health. Weeks prior to the hospital admission, I even noticed her slow thinking and inactivity. We always have to be extra careful, thus follow the proper weight loss techniques. Lose those flabs the right way, the healthy way.

FISH DIET POSITIVITY

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of HealthyTuna.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

This is yet the best food there is, fish! Healthy in itself providing us with good fat, polyunsaturated fatty acid, that decreases bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol. In so saying they lessen the risk to cardiovascular diseases. And we should not wait for the vulnerable age of 40 to be extra careful, nor when we already have the most common sign to heart problem, high blood pressure. I have always believed in starting the right diet early. Childhood obesity in fact is increasing in incidence and such is an alarming concern for the future generation.

Thus, in whatever phase we are in our life it is always recommended to have fish in our diet. 3-4 times in a week is advisable. During pregnancy, we notice also that some mothers have increasing blood pressure. It may be an effect to their previous diet high in fat aggravated by their unstable condition. Being pregnant makes our hormones like a confused entity and not functioning as normal as it should. This may also be a reason to the so called pica, or cravings. And our need for good fat makes us crave for healthy food, fish and seafoods; and hating greasy or fatty foods. I remember hating the smell or even the sight of fatty food. Being aware of the nutritional needs of my body probably makes me more sensitive to the positive and negative effects food have over me.

There are studies going on regarding seafoods still, and this one about it in connection to pregnancy and baby's development is something I am glad to hear. Researchers have observed that the intake of fish during pregnancy gives a significant effect on their baby's early crawling and speech. Another is fish's omega 3 fatty acid's positive effect in protecting in conditions such as depression, dementia and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). These are added incentive to just food health. And so I suggest, start eating healthy tuna...pregnant or not, it gives health benefits.

FEEDING PROBLEMS

Mommies like me have common concern when it comes to our child’s nutritional adequacy, their daily intake. But we have to be aware of the probable reason to insufficiency to be able to have the appropriate action.

First would be INADEQUATE MEALS. Toddlers to pre-schoolers usually are so busy playing that they can forgo eating. They even would say they don’t want to eat though they want to, or is hungry, just so they can continue with their playtime. My li’l one sometimes says “no” to finger foods like biscuits or sandwiches, or whatever offered that they will have to use with their hands with because she knows that I will demand that she wash her hands first; but says “yes” when I offer to feed her myself with oat meal, soup, or food that can be fed to her with spoon or fork. In short, if we think that they are needed to be given special attention, or more convincing effort just for them to eat, we have to do everything in our power just so they will have the required need. School age have other added problems, and one is skipping breakfast; often because they have to rush to school. And we know that breakfast is the most important meal being our energy and vitality for the day’s work. It reduces definitely sluggishness and irritability. Lunch also is becoming a problem since they were left to care for themselves. It is then better for us to provide them with pack lunch than cash to ensure that they are partaking the right quality and quantity of food.

POOR APPETITE comes next. Probable reason is the too tiring activities in school. It is then advisable for parents to know what are the school curriculum and the administration’s concern with the school atmosphere when choosing the right school for their kids. Calorie dense food should be chosen with the balance in the carbohydrates, protein, good fat, vitamins and minerals like milk and fruit beverages. Check nutrient labels when buying their snack items.

SWEET TOOTH or children’s craving for sweets are common because their body are recognizing the need for extra calories, but we have to know when to give them and to what extent. Not only should we be concerned for their decaying teeth due to these sweets but their appetites being affected because of it. Plus giving in to these cravings all the time can be stuck on their eating preference which they will carry on up to adulthood increasing their risk to increased sugar levels or even diabetes. Why not make it a “special occasion” treat and not a “pasalubong” (take-home surprise).

Training our kids to proper food intake should start at an early age, not when they reach adolescent period already. And it is not too early to put them on a DIET. The right diet. Because right now, incidence of childhood obesity is getting higher and higher. Such will be another topic to post.
